License Testing

The Kachina Amateur Radio Club is authorized to do “Ham” license testing through Laurel. This is a FCC radio license that grants you permission to use certain frequencies. The testing is free of charge. You are encouraged to study for this test through the means that best suit your learning style. ARRL has licensing testing books available and there are pay and free websites that offer study materials, including sample testing. Whichever method you choose, the average time to study is about 20 hrs.

The following is general information about testing:

Walk-ins are accepted, but Pre-registration is preferred. Email us at VEtesting@cableone.net to pre-register. Please include your name (the name used to create your FRN if you have one), license call if you have one, and which license exam you wish to take. An acknowledgement will be emailed back to you.

If you are part of a class or study group and can’t make our scheduled test sessions, contact us with your request at the email address above, and we will do our best to accommodate your group/class.

At the testing session the following will be required: Government issued photo ID, your FCC Registration Number (“FRN”) if you have one or your SSAN, the original and a copy of any passed exam element credit (CSCE), and a copy of current license if upgrading. The test session begins at 9 am.
